Winebuff - I'm leaving Saturday anticipating Saturday night at a cheap motel in Bend, then moving on Sunday to Summer Lake Hot Springs. I'll PM you my mobile phone # and maybe we can meet for breakfast in Bend?

You silly girl! you should have left him (her) instructions on where the cool cafes are and a couple other things like that. People watching in LA area when you're from conneticut? That's a nice, silly relaxing afternoon.
Don't worry. I did. It's just a bit hard to get arround here without a car. Gave her my bike and sent her on her way. She ended up having a nice day. She's doing the same thing today. Keep your fingers crossed. Less than 17 hours until take off.

You know the adage, the first 90% of a project takes 90% of the time and the last 10% takes the other half? Yeah. Things are getting crossed off the list. Even easy things - "these cheap-ass string lights have lousy battery packs. Solder on new ones." can turn into "the cheap-ass string lights are landfill and it's not just the battery packs".

Sigh. Well, all the important stuff is done. Almost - I still need to finish (start) the baconater (which is just flat pans fitted with drains so I don't have to burn myself (again) dumping bacon grease). But that'll be easy, right?

And besides, I've got a grill and 15 lbs of high quality bacon - baconater or not there's gonna be some happy campers in the mornings.

Monday morning 7am. Should land in Reno before 1pm and, with luck, my friends will have already bought supplies and we simply hit the road.

My brother-in-law should be arriving SFO any minute. A couple more hours and he'll be arriving Reno. He's coming from the Netherlands for his virgin year.
