The Dream Act...
How do you feel about this attempt to make a path to citicenship via education or service in one of the armed forces.
The Dream Act would give conditional green cards for undocumented immigrants if they graduate from high school and attend college or military service. After a period of 10 years of waiting, they could obtain permanent residence if they met all the requirements, and they could eventually apply for citizenship.
They say there is a 54%, against right now.

Your vote choices were well thought out.
I've worked for good employers and bad...the best put education/experience before most anything else when hiring, and hiring from within. ('cept they secretly were always on the look out for fresh blood/ideas...and meat!)
If/when the greed factor was held in check, it worked out well.
This wasn't always easy but well worth it while it lasted (it didn't always last)
"If properly applied" is not easy to accomplish, that's for sure.

Basically pro. Our immigration "system" is a total farce. I'd add other forms of service, besides military.
And hey, thanks everyone for being civil. Or in Doc's case, as civil as possible.

I try to be civil.
The companies I worked for were big Hotels, some were incredibly good employers, usually the ones that hired with a keen eye for education.
I'm curious where else could "dream act" immigrants devote themsleves?
Volunteerism for our aging population? Ecology?

Just wondering if you realize that we are in two wars? I'd bet you'd also be against reinstating the draft too, right? So, while our country is at war, and are troupes are sacrificing life and limb, what are you doing to aid in the war effort?weirdscience wrote:i am a immigrant im originally from argentina but thats bull im sorry the school thing is not that bad but the military thing is straight up bullshit. pardon my french. o youll become a resident if you go to war.. but one thing you might die.. so even if you do die not even your family gets it . wana play with luck? .. thats bull
Nothing! Just like everybody else. Which is one of the major problems with the citizenry today. No sacrifice required--just entitlement to all that those who sacrifice and die for help to provide. Now that's bull.

When I was a kid I used to pray every night for a new bicycle.
Then I realized that the Lord doesn't work that way so I stole one and asked Him to forgive me

but, I wish I could remember the quote.
It has to do with:
good is good, but, lucky will take you past it.
