I KNEW IT!
how's Madison treating you? Cold as fuck, but plenty of hippies to keep you warm, huh.

be careful though, you need a permit to shoot both hippies and their annoying post-modern cousins, the hipster douchebags, unless you're in Portland, where they are having a problem and need to thin the herd a little, so it's pretty much shoot what you can eat.
go to Olympia Washington for true free range hippies.

Well, I really wanted to stay in Hawaii, but, even with its rampant poverty, it is still too expensive for me. The Madison area is expensive, but not as expensive as Hawaii, plus I got a job here.Simon of the Playa wrote:BAS wrote:It is?!!Liz Estrada wrote:what, the fact that many of the regulars on here actually work for the gubbermint?

There weren't any hippies about, so I had to get my car unstuck from the ice and snow myself (when I last parked it was during a snow storm-- maybe I should've parked in the street, where the City would tow it for me after the blizzard, then all I would have had to do was pay an exorbitant fine.)
For the most part, Madison treats me fine-- unfortunately, the politicians still play off Madison vs. the less affluent parts of the state, so they elect people like Scott Walker, who preach punishing state employees for the bad economy, terrorists, job losses, etc.
The only reason State Employees benefits look like Cadillacs is because, to those driving Yugos, third hand Pontiacs look really good.

Also, be sure the vehicle isn't "high centered" on snow, if it is, use a shovel and free it up a bit, then rock it back n forth with the ashes spread technique...and be sure to make a trail of ahses where you plan to drive for about 10 or 20 feet...or hope to drive...the more ashes the better.
I keep a 5 gallon bucket of ashes in my vehicle with a tight sealed lid; old laundry soap buckets work well for this.
Try using ashes, make sure there aren't nails or sharp obejcts in them, spread over, in front of and behind the tires, the carbon "locks" the rubber tire to the snow, ice, icy snow, deep powdery snow, deep slushy snow, any type of snow or ice condition...vehicle should drive right out like it's a hot day on dry pavement in August.I had to get my car unstuck from the ice and snow myself

When I got back, I saw that the landlord had left a bucket of sand near the door to the parking lot, so I might have been able to do something similar with sand. I do keep a snow shovel in the car, so I was able to eventually free it. I'm not certain where I'd get ashes from. (Maybe I can talk a friend of mine and/or his wife into playing with their fire pit over the weekend-- they have a lot of branches that their trees lost over the summer to burn. [The single digit temps might make things difficult.])moonrise wrote:BAS wrote;Try using ashes, make sure there aren't nails or sharp obejcts in them, spread over, in front of and behind the tires, the carbon "locks" the rubber tire to the snow, ice, icy snow, deep powdery snow, deep slushy snow, any type of snow or ice condition...vehicle should drive right out like it's a hot day on dry pavement in August.I had to get my car unstuck from the ice and snow myself
