Wholeheartedly disagree,,,, bacon makes even sprouts taste better! Try a BLT with sprouts instead of lettuce,,,, a BST if you will.

shroom,,,,, like the link and all the bacon goods,,,, but what DOES Bacon NOT go with or make taste better?

They BOTH sound good for dinner!
Sometimes I'm confused by what I think is really obvious. But what I think is really obvious obviously isn't obvious.

Purchased the black and red licorice along with the lime jello this evening. Should have a first-hand evaluation for you this weekend.

Any other serious suggestions?

Labor Day? Yeah, the day we burn the Man. This year falling on 9/3/2011.

what DOES Bacon NOT go with?

* Rice Crispy Treats made with chopped up bacon
* Tofurkey -- wrapped in bacon
* NY-style cheese cake topped with cherries and bacon
* Peppermint & bacon ice cream
* Coconut cream pie with bacon
* Fried peanut butter & banana & bacon sandwiches
* Bacon peanut brittle
* Chocolate chip bacon cookies

and this is just plain silly....

Meaning no disparagement to perceived cultural history (ahem) how are they typically prepard in your neck of the woods?

It could just be a personal distaste but you owe it to yourself to at least try them once simply prepared.

Select smaller sprouts, should resemble something closer to a marble than a golf ball. Halve them and tumble in a good olive oil, sprinkle with sea salt and fresh ground pepper. Place on a baking sheet (or whatever you call the cookie sheet with sides) and place in a hot oven until browned with carmelization.

This makes for a sweet yet slightly tangy party in your mouth. Whatever you do don't boil them to death, that just accentuates the bitterness. Much like the full-blown breathen, cabbage, you want to cook them until they're tender but still crisp, otherwise you're just eating materialized farts.

YMMV

Oh and in keeping with the subject, I prefer my bacon raw:

Actually, not true, but my FIL was known to eat a # of it right out of the package when looped.

Pretty much anything is edible prepared like that. In fact, that's how we ate the couch cushions in 95.

Food Test Results!

Post by Trishntek » Sat Mar 12, 2011 7:57 pm

Having tried Black Licorice with Bacon, Red Licorice with Bacon and Lime Jello with Bacon the official results are unveiled! Using Bacon and Eggs as a standard of '10' on the top end of the scale of excellence, I have determined the results accordingly.

Black Licorice with Bacon = 6
The sweetness of the licorice is mitigated by the saltiness of the bacon. The resulting flavor of the fundamental flavor comes forth with a pleasant play on the tongue. I can say without question Bacon makes Black Licorice taste better!

Red Licorice with Bacon = 5
For many of the same reasons, bacon clarifies the cherry flavor of the licorice. It brings it about without the inhibiting factors of the sugar. If you like that maraschino taste, this one's for you! I can say without question Bacon makes Red Licorice taste better!

Lime Jello with Bacon = 7
True lime flavoring is revealed when bacon balances the sugary sweetness of the jello. The sourness is nicely balanced with the salt of the bacon to bring about somewhat of a margarita in your mouth. The balance can be altered by quantities of each consumed simultaneously. I can say without question Bacon make Lime Jello taste better!
