and, I hope some of what he promises, he delivers on. I do like some of what he says, and does *someone catch JK as he faints*

but, I think he has no real control over what he does, and what happens.
He, like most of his recent predecessors, is just the "talking head" that keeps us entertained, while, the "real" power marches to it's own drummer.


and, remember, no matter the Prez, without congress, not much of anything can or will happen.
I blame "them" for many of the ills of our nation.

I don't think he understood the real powers at control before he took the presidency. It's a shame...I wish him the best though! I voted for Ross Perot by the way.,

Who/what do you believe are the "real" powers? (money and the military/industrial complex being the obvious alternative choice.)

And that's the whole point of the separation of power--legislative, executive and judicial. Of course it is more difficult to legislate when you have hundreds of people needing to reach consensus. But this was deemed better than trying to get the entire country agree.

That is why we have representative government.

Many of the arguments here are actually direct attacks on the constitution disguised as distrust in government. Let's at least call a spade a spade.

Oh please, that guy doesn't have a leg to stand on. The house passed by unanimous concentrate, authorization for Obaba to carry out the UN resolution on Lybia. Not sure on the senate, but certainly this was not anywhere near what Bush did to go into Iraq. Ridiculous.

well, for one thing, not everything, is bad. IMHO (puts pillow on floor for JK's head when he falls).

but, I've been disappointed in how he promised all these things, like getting out of places, cutbacks, gitmo,etc.
He had to know, it was not going to happen, and, it seems he couldn't have been so naive as to think there was not much more "behind the scenes" that he didn't know as a candidate.
To me, it was disingenuous to make those promises, and, he knew he'd not keep them.

I think he portrays some of the "let 'em eat cake", along with his wife, as to the suffering of "the people". Golf and shopping trips, flights all over for no real reason,, huge entourages et al.

I think he's not got a lot of "backbone".
and I think he's easily manipulated.

All this said, I don't think he's much different, in those respects, than many before him. Just different light, but, same bulb.

It seems he tries to build consensus, and, if that is so, and genuine, then I applaud that.

it seems, as much "hope and change" as was promised, it'll end up being "business as usual".
They'll portray him as different, but, at the end of the day, it'll still be what his handlers want.

Life is neither perfect or easy. I have my vision of how our country and how the world should be. I give my vote to the person I feel will come the closest to fulfilling my vision. Will I always agree with everything that person might do, or have to do? No. But that will always be the person (team) I root for. At least Until the next election.

I have seen safety standards lowered time and time again. I can only imagine that this trend has continued.
