faith is a great thing.
and, I hope some of what he promises, he delivers on. I do like some of what he says, and does *someone catch JK as he faints*

but, I think he has no real control over what he does, and what happens.
He, like most of his recent predecessors, is just the "talking head" that keeps us entertained, while, the "real" power marches to it's own drummer.

and, remember, no matter the Prez, without congress, not much of anything can or will happen.
I blame "them" for many of the ills of our nation.

I don't think he understood the real powers at control before he took the presidency. It's a shame...I wish him the best though! I voted for Ross Perot by the way.,

Glad I had the smelling salts close to the bed, you almost gave me the vapors! :D

Who/what do you believe are the "real" powers? (money and the military/industrial complex being the obvious alternative choice.)

And that's the whole point of the separation of power--legislative, executive and judicial. Of course it is more difficult to legislate when you have hundreds of people needing to reach consensus. But this was deemed better than trying to get the entire country agree.

That is why we have representative government.

Many of the arguments here are actually direct attacks on the constitution disguised as distrust in government. Let's at least call a spade a spade.

Oh please, that guy doesn't have a leg to stand on. The house passed by unanimous concentrate, authorization for Obaba to carry out the UN resolution on Lybia. Not sure on the senate, but certainly this was not anywhere near what Bush did to go into Iraq. Ridiculous.

More damage to workers was done by "Democrat" Bill Clinton with NAFTA than anything Republicans cooked up except for Reagan's war on unions.. Bill also destroyed banking regulation. Obama was a wolf in sheep's clothing, promising what he never had the balls to deliver. Fuck both parties. I'm voting for Ron Paul.

Oh this is the story we always see- "vote for a democrat so the worse won't befall us". I am so sick and tired of that story. Let the republicans drive us to hell, then maybe we'll begin to see just how hot it is and fight these satanic
lying rat bastards to the end.

I actually like some of what Ron Paul says. His only problem is that he is way too out there when you actually listen to ALL that he has to say. It's a wasted vote.

I, then, wasted my vote, because I couldn't stomach either candidate, and there was no "none of the above" offered.

None of the above is a wasted vote too. But tell me,without using Republican talking points, what actually is so bad about Obama, especially when compared to his predecessors?

ya gotta work on the quote thing, there, JK (another High 4 for you!!)

what's bad about Obama?
well, for one thing, not everything, is bad. IMHO (puts pillow on floor for JK's head when he falls).

but, I've been disappointed in how he promised all these things, like getting out of places, cutbacks, gitmo, etc.
He had to know, it was not going to happen, and, it seems he couldn't have been so naive as to think there was not much more "behind the scenes" that he didn't know as a candidate.
To me, it was disingenuous to make those promises, and, he knew he'd not keep them.

I think he portrays some of the "let 'em eat cake", along with his wife, as to the suffering of "the people". Golf and shopping trips, flights all over for no real reason,, huge entourages et al.

I think he's not got a lot of "backbone".
and I think he's easily manipulated.

All this said, I don't think he's much different, in those respects, than many before him. Just different light, but, same bulb.

It seems he tries to build consensus, and, if that is so, and genuine, then I applaud that.

it seems, as much "hope and change" as was promised, it'll end up being "business as usual".
They'll portray him as different, but, at the end of the day, it'll still be what his handlers want.

I guess, I just see milk toast, when, pepperoni pizza was promised.

edit: spelling and, haha, I see you worked on your quote, while I was typing.

also, TS:

I really don't think W was or is stupid. Stupid, like a fox, perhaps.
I didn't agree with a lot of his stuff, too. Well, most of it, really.
If, you are talking intellect.
I think he's an average joe, as far as smarts goes........
you guys call him dumb, for things not much different that things that have happened with many prez's in the past.

and, when will you quit beating that horse, and, move on?

I was rooting for Hillary too, primarily because i thought she paid her dues and it was her time (time for a woman), and i also thought a black man wouldn't stand a chance. She's doing a he'll of a job now though. I think she should run again in 2016, but I doubt she will.

The quote thing is just me getting used to this damn iPad. It's especially difficult after a glass or three of wine.

I kind of view Obama (and the Democrats) as many people view their favorite sports team...they rarely win every game, but you root for them even when they disappoint.

Life is neither perfect or easy. I have my vision of how our country and how the world should be. I give my vote to the person I feel will come the closest to fulfilling my vision. Will I always agree with everything that person might do, or have to do? No. But that will always be the person (team) I root for. At least Until the next election.

one might imagine, all teams will be benched.....or should be.

the thing about a shutdown, is, it'd be nice if it pissed the public off, enough, to really get involved, to vote, to pay attention. To take pride in the ability to participate, in the running of their government, the peacuful transition of power, and, promoting a general way of life and freedom..

Again, I say Wisconsin. The people there have gotten angry and are well on their way to recalling every state legislator that they can who voted to strip collective bargaining from workers.

But alas, you are, for the most part, correct. I was watching another segment on TV where someone went into the streets and showed people a picture of the Speaker of the House and nobody could even recognize who he was. The level of ignorance and not being involved in the political process is really sad. Which only highlights that old saw "People get the government they deserve."

US Nuclear Storm Brewing-Obama Helps Cover Up Nuclear Spills By Scab Workers At Honeywell Plant In Metropolis Illinois

US Nuclear Storm Brewing
by
Mike Griffin, UBC Union Millwright
From The War Zone
4/20/2011

When the catastrophe in Japan turned its focus from the massive deaths caused by the Tsunami to the damaged nuclear reactors, everyone began a massive cover-up, including the owners of the Japanese power plants and the government in Japan as well.
Efforts to regain control of run-away reactors had decidedly one aim. That aim was to save the investment of the owners and salvage a lucrative cash cow for the elite business men backed by the extremely corporate friendly Japanese government with little or no regard for the affected public. That is bolstered by the facts that the public was consistently lied to by the owners and the government and the government’s refusal to evacuate a much wider area even though it would have saved many more lives and future hardships by those exposed to excessive radiation. If that response sounds familiar; it is. It is a mirror image of owner and government response at Three Mile Island in Pennsylvania.

As the nuclear event unfolded in Japan, US nuclear industry lobbyists literally pounced on Washington DC to make sure it would remain “business as usualâ€

The true citizens of the United States of Amerika are corporations. The people are just fodder. Slaves to the elite who are above the law.

I worked in the nuclear industry as a Radiation Health Physics Tech for 8 years. At one of the Power plants I worked at I was good friends with one of the reactor operators. After a big meeting that the operators had with corporate he told me that "While it was never actually stated outright, it was made very clear to the operators that the refueling outage (which was now scheduled for 40 days instead of the usual 4 to 6 months) would be finished on schedule even if it cost some lives." I have seen safety standards lowered time and time again. I can only imagine that this trend has continued.

And again I remind you that if you voted for a republican or a democrat, you wasted your vote. Both parties are "owned" by the United Corporations of Amerika.

Obama released his long form birth certificate. Who's betting this will end the birther movement? http://www.cnn.com/2011/POLITICS/04/27/ ... tml?hpt=C1

When I was a kid I used to pray every night for a new bicycle.
Then I realized that the Lord doesn't work that way so I stole one and asked Him to forgive me

It was only brought up in the first place by people like Trump who want to use the issue to grandstand, rather than deal with real issues.

Now he says he needs to see it in person - as if he deserves some sort of special access.

That's entertainment!
