I'm from San Diego, and I've never been to a burner event, or even a rave. I figured, go big or go home, right?
Good to meet you all!
No, it's exactly the same. The Internet and television are just like the real world, only better. Cars mean freedom, not taxing the wealthy creates jobs, fat people are "healthy," cigarette smoke is good for you, having wet hair outsides gives you a cold, film is dead, debt is good, anything trendy is always good ... not myths at all. They're all true (I saw it on the Interwebs!)MyDearFriend wrote:NOW you tell me?!?!???Super Evil Brian wrote: Of course, looking at a computer screen and actually being there are two vastly different things.
Actually, there is more truth to that statement than you might believe.Super Evil Brian wrote:. The Internet and television are just like the real world, only better.
Well, since I've never been, I can pretend like I won't know what I'm missing out on this year. Ha.Super Evil Brian wrote:Welcome aboard!
True the current year is always better than the previous year, both of which are much more lame than the year before, but of course not as good as next year, but you should go anyway.
I got sidetracked ... oh yea, this is my first year. Keep reading and studying. Look for photos on Flickr and Facebook and videos on Vimeo and YouTube ... there is no shortage of information to at least get an idea of what to expect. Of course, looking at a computer screen and actually being there are two vastly different things.
Mine too!! Just start reading; a lot; then read some more. I discover something new each time I read http://www.burningman.com/first_timers/lovelytaypay wrote:Hello all! I will be going to Burning Man 2012 as my first time, so I figured I'd start off early talking to you all and getting as much info as I can.

You have me intrigued. *scurries off to Google*
Thanks, I did find it, and I am overly excited. I am trying to sort some things out and see if I can get myself there with my tax return.mudpuppy000 wrote:Hehe, if you didn't find it, here's the website:lovelytaypay wrote:ORLY?mudpuppy000 wrote:Welcome! There's a festival in so cal called lightning in a bottle coming up in about a month.
