Ygmir, that was my original thought when I started this thread. I believe that we have been "blasted" back to the stone age many times.ygmir wrote:well........scoff if you must, but, I believe this is hardly the first, or only time of "man" (sentient beings, if you will) on this planet.
I think there have been ages, so long ago, lost and forgotten, wiped mostly clean by Earths ability to heal, (on a geologic time scale, nothing we do or have done lasts very long).
Perhaps "they" are wiped out completely by catastrophe, perhaps, almost and enough are left to "seed" again. Having to "start over" as such, with all that was past, lost to time.

A new find seems to push tool use by Homo back to 1.76 million years.

They are more advanced than the Oldowan tools from 2.6 million years. It seems that primitive man used the same tools for a million years. NOT a quick learner.

I don't post things because I believe that they are the absolute truth. I post them because I believe that they should be considered.

They just hadn’t evolved into gadget freaks that need to get the latest cordless drill with the biggest battery yet.

Not so sure about that, Zuley - I strongly suspect that the SECOND human to use a stick as a tool made sure it was bigger, stronger and more nicely decorated than the first one.

I would invite you to read through the review comments on Amazon. Interesting rebuttals and further insight..

if you want to read something that will blow you away, there is nothing better than this;
Not so much for the information but, for the implications. It is the most fascinating book I've ever read,, and I've read a few.

For as much as that book costs, I can see how you've only read a few.

Re: How long have men walked the Earth?
Just picked a stone tool..
It has finger groves for four fingers and a opposing thumb for the left hand..
When you grip it, It's like a fender dolly about 3 inches across,, The groves are deep enough to protect you from hitting your hand.. It is made out of hard river rock.. Not sure but I may have the stone hammer/striking tool for this tool.. I picked that a few years ago from around the same spot..
Man has been around for a long time..
