Ooooooooh, Veganchoirgirl, I'm so jealous! I have been DROOLING over outfits this year but I can't afford to spend much on "non-essentials"...wanh. That skirt is HOT. Nice stuff!!!!!

On a side note, my mom told me today that she's giving me her serger, so I'll have a new toy to try to make burning man clothes with.

That would be amazing!
Truly rock my world.
Based on this conversation, I've now decided that my 'Prom Night' outfit will be a tux shirt, I'd like to find the most Pirateish one I can. With big ruffles down the buttons in the front. I'm gonna cut the sleeves off.
I'm gonna get some good comfortable black pants, cut each leg diagnol from left to right.
I have a really shinny silver belt. Yes it has sequence, though, they are very stable, I rip it off through my belt loops and none come off.
I need either a silver or white top hate. If I end up with a white or black top hate it will have to be EL Wired.

Hopefully I'm able to talk Random out of a purple or pink cumberbund and bow tie. My girlfriends 'prom dress' is purple.

Yes I'm that tacky that I'd like to sorta match my girlfriend.
That kind of tacky is very "Prom." 8)

If you're ordering on ebay from China, expect at least two weeks shipping time. I've had stuff show up within a week, but also had to wait up to three weeks.
Dude  I thought she was waiting for the July Burner discount at Cool Neon! (20% off, code "JRS") That's what I have been waiting for... oh and I needed to get my cloak lining together & check the measurement: yep, 35 feet should be just right!
THEY HAVE A BURNER DISCOUNT?!?!?!? That's the website I was browsing! Screw ordering now, I'm going to keep waiting....

Ha ha hahahahaha, VCG, I've had that same Gloomth corset in my list for YEARS! I was tickled PINK when Louise was on Project Runway two seasons ago. Lord, I'd love to roll around in your closet. I'm not doing anything costume-wise, this year.

I got my plane ticket yesterday. Arriving in Reno 10:25 Wednesday. Leaving Reno two weeks later. The big expense down. Now I just gotta figure out what to take, so I can mail it off to the lovely, lovely Raiders who've agreed to schlep it for me. It's GOT to be cheaper than flying with it.

Anybody know, for shipping boxes the cheapest, USPS v. FedEx v. ____?

And I LOVE prom! I have way too many prom dresses.

Image
Prom Princess Hitler - wore that for BM 2009 one afternoon, tore my hoop skirt uuuuuuuup.

I blame it on John Hughes.
Image

I'm going to sell them all, if anybody needs a sz 16+ 80s prom dress....largest one is 44/38/50 (50 being the top of the hips, just below the waist)!

C.f.M. if you have someone that could pick things up for you at a bus station 'bus freight' through greyhound had decent rates.

Hmmmmmmm, I met a guy here in DC who sends his bags, tent, etc to Reno on Greyhound for a cheap per-piece rate and picks them up when he gets off the plane. He's with Celestial Bodies & totally fits that profile so I wouldn't mind trying to track him down for ya if you don't get anywhere with Greyhound.

The estimate for Greyhound (and I made up a size and weight of 88 pounds, it's not rated by just an item) was @ $88 - the earlier link, the minimum 100lb cost was $68.

FedEx, no size, 80 lbs, $61-158

USPS - can't mail anything over 70lbs, "large package," 70lbs, 12x12x24, costs $66.

So, it looks like USPS would be cheaper than the Greyhound (for what I'm doing, not necessarily for all things - esp. since you can't mail over 70lbs).

Half a lifetime ago I drove deliveries all over the bay area for Modine radiator. Every single day I stopped at Greyhound to ship HUGE semi-truck radiators all over the country. Never had a lost shipment. That amazed me.

Tootsy, YOU are a dynamo. I just LOVE your on-the-fly artistry!
