Congratulations on not being held hostage by your stuff.
I keep remembering, while I am packing, something someone said here on this board (wish I could remember who):
There's too much stuff out there already.

I thought the same thing. Since when did they start requiring mini vans to go through truck scales??? I reaaaaaally don't think there's a limit to how much you can pack in one. Anyone have any documentation/links otherwise?
Our van can haul 1200lbs including passengers (check sticker on driver door)- Truck scales at our recycling center - No we do not stop interstate weight checks. weigh empty, then full- gasp! we we at about 1500- now after some hard choices we are legal! see you all soon!!junglesmacks wrote:ohCarie wrote:truck scales for mini van?

Ouch, that sucks, but driving an over weight vehicle makes the cross country trip less enjoyable and more dangerous. I would bring the bikes though - manufacturer's weight limits are probably a bit conservative and what could they weigh - 40 pounds?tootsybean wrote:Newb mistakeEverything fit into and on the minivan fine, but then, took it to the truck scales, ouch!! Over weight by 250 pounds. Water for two not included. Tough decisions. So about, half of shade structure, half of camp furniture, half of maple syrup for gifting shooters, and gasp, our bikes
are staying home. A lot of our weight is in solar. Anyway, we shall hit the road tomorrow as a slimmed down camp that is Black Rock City bound. Blast off time! feeling better all ready
can't wait,

Adding "pick up gold paint" to my list. You deserve a golden lasso! Safe travel. See you soon!
Technically...I am not camping there. My man Piney and I will have a tent there (it's his camp, he's been with Golden Cafe for a LONG ass time) but I'll be there a lot. I'll be at 5:40 and D in the Black Hole. Headed there at 3am tomorrow morning. Hitting the bay area on the way to grab someone. Then straight on 'til it's dusty.ohCarie wrote:VCG--we're neighbors! I'll stroll over from 6:30 and Esplanade, snowflake village. French Quarter--how cool!!
Come by for a tequila popper and a tattoo for a spring break rite of passage!! )'(
