You swim to Baker beach, followed by a costume party.

While the man maybe set light at midnight (but I thought it was earlier, but who's looking at their watch), it is advisable to get to The Man just after sunset Saturday evening (about 8pm, maybe 8:30) otherwise you will NOT get a front row view, and typically with the tall people always arriving first, being second row (or 10th row) you don't get a good view of the fire dancers pre-burn show - worth seeing - so arrive early.ness wrote:sat. night 12:00am the temple burns sun. night and as always I set my weiner on fire monday morning
Okay... here's a question--- why do you need a "front row" view when the man is visable from the entire city?bdongray wrote:While the man maybe set light at midnight (but I thought it was earlier, but who's looking at their watch), it is advisable to get to The Man just after sunset Saturday evening (about 8pm, maybe 8:30) otherwise you will NOT get a front row view, and typically with the tall people always arriving first, being second row (or 10th row) you don't get a good view of the fire dancers pre-burn show - worth seeing - so arrive early.ness wrote:sat. night 12:00am the temple burns sun. night and as always I set my weiner on fire monday morning
Of course the firework show and the burn itself, is visible to all, now matter how far you are back. And this is where being front row you get to feel the full heat of the burn! Even at 200ft back - phew, it must be intense for the people closer.
PS Hang on...-- My camera has the time stored for each picture....
It seems for 2002 and 2003 the pre-burn show started just after 9pm each time. The fireworks just before 10pm, and the Man started to burn at (near enough) 10pm (and I have compensated for my TimeZone, and I'm anal about setting the time accurately).
PPS After setting your weiner on fire one year, you still have it for the next year?
