Hey everybody!

Last time I was here I managed to drop my weight to 194, but then I drifted up to something like 207 again. That's not terrible, considering I was at 220 when I started this thread, but I really need/want to take another big chunk off my "spare tire". At the moment, right at 200.

I've been eating less -- yesterday I ate nothing but grapes from the garden. I'm walking again, but I gave up on driving to the State Park -- burning gasoline. So now I walk straight out of my house. I live "on the wrong side of the tracks", but I try to ignore the MOOP and other sadness. In fact, I think I'll take a short walk right now.

Robbidobbs, you don't need to sign in, just jump in!

Ice cream (black berry) is a weakness for me. I learned that chocolate sorbet/sherbet is a good replacement, it's almost ice cream and basically a gourmet fudgesicle with less fat etc. (safeway store brand has a screaming good deal on it almost everyday)

Elliot, grapes can cause swelling for gout I think (I love grapes!)....spring for some tuna here n there, the protein is good for you. Good to see you back :P

unjohn and robbi, hiya!

We (most of us here in EFC anyway) aren't exactly in our 20's anymore, diligence, diligence and I think we'll at least drop 1/2 of our goal weight.

Soon I'll dicuss stopping cigs (my other bad habit) and such things as soy is toxic! (sorry simon, I know, soy bashing is a boring subject for ya, lol) But, it MUST be done, soy sucks!, and so do cigs
in my expert opinion....why DO I smoke??? Fuck!!!
I'm the MAN in a truck, burner who is stuck, you're in luck! I'll whip out my BIG tow chain and not charge you, not even one lousy buck!

I have lost 55 pounds in the last 3 months without the use of rare tropical diseases or parasites.

I continue to exercise a minimum of 5 days a week.

I have another 30-40 to lose before the man burns.

I'm back from my walk. Walked into town to the pharmacy. Mostly downhill there, uphill back.

Underused muscles become stiff and sore when they suddenly are used a lot. I overdid the walking the other day -- sure enough. Goes over in a couple of days.

I'm managing to eat almost nothing this week. It's OK since I don't have to go anywhere and do anything strenuous. Ought to take care of a few pounds.

Good morning coffee crowd and (on this page) welcome back old members, lucky, M, et al and our founder Elliot! (Tuna Elliot, Tuna!!!!)

MOOP_Czar :) ...............wow! Stoked you have joined us (sweat is NOT MOOP, you can look the other way) perhaps parasites/tropical diseases are a short cut, hmmm.....there's plenty of time for those later.

Um yea, I almost choked to death on yummy, thick Iowa farm raised bacon today, what a way to drop some pounds, fast too, yay.
Oh, so I had a (rare for me) drink too, the choking freaked me out a bit, I was home alone

The good news is, I've been walking and eating better (except for the above exception) and I'm working my fucking ass off, that is my plan so far. And awareness, yep, don't eat crap loaded with calories, but eat what ya want...within reason, portion control works for me.

aaaand, what is your fitness weight loss plan?

...back to the salt mine I go :|

Moonrise-

4 months ago I went in to get a new suit for work.

You know those mirrors that you stand in front of that have 5-6 sections so you can see how the suit fits you?

I about shit myself right there. I went home and stepped on the scale I had been avoiding and it couldnt read the weight. It maxed at 300lbs.

About 2 days later I wathced a movie called Fat, Sick, and Nearly Dead.

Followed the diet that was kind of oputlined in the film. 60 days gave me about a 40 pound loss.

At present, I am just eating healthy - no crap and I use the stationary bike for 20-30 minutes a day.

I topped the scales at 328 pounds when I stepped on the one in the Dr office a little over 3 months ago.
I checked this morning and I am at 270. I was at 280 when I went back to a solid diet.

The movie can change lives.

It changed mine.

yep MOOP-Czar....I'll try to watch the movie (make time, make time...)

One of my more difficult issues is the low back pain, dropping the last 40 pounds will help, but heavy exercise irritates the low back injury, it's a vicious cycle, but it can be broken with diet changes and some low impact exercise.

I found some of my 'thinner' clothes, gonna hold onto them and save myself the cost & hassle of buying replacements.

upward and onward! :)

I did buy Halloween candy, didn't eat it, except for a couple packs of fruit gummies and three tiny Whopper balls. I sent the bags of chocolate with MyLarry to share with the other drivers.

I was given the month access to very nice sport centre here, so first step - call them to activate it - is done.
I go there tomorrow :) The process of getting in shape may begin :)

Sounds like World Hoop Day found you & you joined hoopcity.ca. I'm a part of that community a lot. I'm a hooper and loved meeting up with other hoopers on the playa!

Hooping helped me so much on my journey to BM that I can't imagine one without the other :)

I've made my own hoops as well and it is addicting!! Have fun with it and feel free to PM me with any questions you have or just to "Hoop Chat" :D

Happy Hooping!

Took a major step yesterday: Plunked down $30 to join a gym. At least I hope it will be a major step. Had my first introductory session today -- all upper-body exercises for starters.

The coach warned me that the only way to get rid of the "spare tire" around my waist is by eating less and eating healthier. We knew that!

So I'll celebrate my first visit to a gym in 20 years with pizza and chocolate. :P

Yay for the gym! Half the battle is showing up. You can do that!

I've not made it back to the gym since before turkey day. Either I have had doctor's appointments, or something else, like that terrible wind storm. Simply not safe to go wait for a bus in that!

But my weight is down a good, solid three pounds, very consistent. I have lost my appetite for snacking. Good! However, my hernia is acting up today, very scary. I see the new doc on Tuesday, which is my swim class day. I might go Monday to Open Swim and just do some easy stuff in the water.

It's harder to stay motivated to exercise in the winter. Especially if you live somewhere where it snows. Unless, of course, skiing is a part of your exercise regimen.

Nice work joining a gym, Elliot. Exercise can help alleviate stress and depression for many, especially if you get into a habit. I personally zone out quite well while I exercise (music helps) and am less likely to dwell on things. It makes for a nice break.

That said, my fitness update: I've been completely stir crazy for the last 6 weeks or so--life has been astonishingly stressful, and I haven't been able to run. (Well . . . I've risked it twice, and each time I regretted it). I'm trying to avoid aggravating a foot injury which I'd exacerbated by wearing crappy shoes, and some other factors. It's kind of worthless for me to see a doctor about it without popping Advil, wearing better shoes, & taking a break from foot-centric exercise first, because a smart doctor would say first, "Try NOT RUNNING for 6 weeks." So I've been doing some yoga & dance instead--although admittedly not enough of these to keep in shape, because I'm stubborn and I admit . . . not being able to run just makes me want to run more.

Thursday I decided to work out on an elliptical trainer (with actually a lot of worry) but stayed on the machine for 40 minutes without pain that day or the next. So maybe I'm healing. I don't wanna get careless though, so it's dance again on Monday, and not on the balls of my feet either. (I regretted it the last time.) And I suppose as a swimmer from way back, I could talk myself into the pool. I do better with a team though.

I eat well, but I guess I have to eat even more vegetables, if exercise can't be 60-65% of the effort like it normally is.

If I can just heal up, I am not going to take my reasonable good health for granted ever again.
