Both of these views are correct generally speaking. But start getting more specific, I'm pretty sure you will find they do not apply as equally for each specific situation/industry/company.ygmir wrote:cowboyangel wrote:

You show disproportionate outrage for damage to a few parks? Did you have similar outrage over the Fukushima and BP oil spill in the gulf? I think you need to get your priorities straight. Unless you are one of the 1%, you are acting against your own best interests.
BTW, we are the cops and military. Most of my friends are elite power lifters (as myself) and are either former military or currently enlisted, and one of my cousins is a New York State Trooper and he supports the #Occupy protests as well (worried about losing his pension from a previous job). You have an inaccurate picture of us as wimps.

I thought I acknowledged it by stating it's costly. And yes, of course, it should be done as low impact, as possible. BUT, that has to balance with need. WE have to mine and harvest, to exist, and over doing it, will also end our existence. As long as there is middle ground, it seems ok, to me.Ugly Dougly wrote:It's also in our national interest not to despoil the land for future generations, of course. I'm not talking about Joe Banker on main street who gets a paycheck like everyone else and is a clerk. That should be obvious. I'm referring to the ones who set up the federal reserve and everyone else involved in deregulating the banking industry by paying off congress through lobbying, etc...Ugly Dougly wrote:I don't know any bankers personally. Dougly, i don't know any bankers, so i'm not sure this is what you're referring to ... but i am very close to a money manager, and feel comfortable saying that while gambling is part of it, there is far more involved. he basically reads all day, studying companies and the economy, and charting growth and changes. the idea is to invest in companies that are growing, and those companies are creating stuff ... but they need more capital to grow. as with everything else, there are good, well-managed companies and weak companies that lack product and/or good management... the trick is to find the best buys out there. it takes some combination of study and nerve, as well as a patience and a cool head.... not an easy job at all. massive pressure.Ugly Dougly wrote:I don't know any bankers personally. Besides, it has been tried and come to nothing.
but, the thing is, without congress' willingness to regulate (correctly), oversee and or enforce (order enforcement), the "1%" can and will, do as they please.
you'll never get rid of the "rich".......it's the human condition to stratify.
But, if we could get a congress, who did the "peoples" work and, cared, the "bad guys" would have no loopholes and such to use.
yup, it's tough, but, I really thing, congress is the focal point, for good and bad.
If we'd get a congress, unwilling to be "lapdogs".........well, it'd work.
I'd submit, getting rid of "the rich" has also been tried, many times, in many societies.......it never works. If they are physically removed (Russia/USSR?), they are just replaced with despotic, corrupt and corruptible rulers, arguably, just a bad.

I'm not for term limits nor wage limits. If they do their jobs, I think they should stay as long as they are effective and should be paid enough to want to do the people's work. This one's fun.
Pro-Tax Millionaires Group Tells Grover Norquist: ‘Move To Somalia!’ | Patriotic Millionaires for Fiscal Strength, a group of millionaires advocating for higher taxes on the wealthy and an end to the Bush tax cuts, met with Congressional leaders yesterday in Washington. But they also met with anti-tax advocate Grover Norquist, and according to one of the millionaires, the group told him that if he’s so opposed to taxation, he should move to Somalia, the Huffington Post reports. Eric Schoenberg, member of the millionaires group, told HuffPo that he asked Norquist if he’d be willing to sign a pledge forgoing all benefits paid for by tax dollars. “And he said, ‘If I don’t have to pay any taxes for it, I would forgo all those things!’” Schoenberg said. “To which my response was, ‘Well there’s an easy way to do that, move to Somalia!’” Norquist told HuffPo that Somalia’s problem, however, was that it had “a whole bunch of governments…compet[ing] to be in charge of pushing you around.”

U.N. Envoy: U.S. Isn't Protecting Occupy Protesters' Rights
WASHINGTON -- The United Nations envoy for freedom of expression is drafting an official communication to the U.S. government demanding to know why federal officials are not protecting the rights of Occupy demonstrators whose protests are being disbanded -- sometimes violently -- by local authorities.

When I was a kid I used to pray every night for a new bicycle.
Then I realized that the Lord doesn't work that way so I stole one and asked Him to forgive me

OPDX marched the side walks in a demonstration of what, No one has figured out yet.. No problem until some one pushed a cop (on traffic control) in front of a moving bus.. No problem until some one though a fire works that burned and sent a cop to the hospital.. and a few other little things.. Overall three people were arrested along a day long march.. Three more were arrested for trespassing and not leaving privet property.. All of these arrest were made in front of a camera.. One female broke rank and charge and pushed a cop.. For that she got pepper sprayed when she would not back down.. What the fuck you exspect? The cops should hand out roses already??
