(((MA)))!!!! How did I miss this and how did this fudge turn out????????????????????maryanimal wrote:My last few days have been stellar! It's amazing what a positive attitude will do!!
AND today I made peanut butter maple bacon fudge! No chocolate involved here. I've never tried it with chocolate.
I'm waiting for it to firm up and have a piece!! Yayaaaayayayayayay!
It turned out yummy, however it needed a bit more of a bacon flavor along with the bacon pieces. The recipe calls for butter, I mayuse half bacon fat and half butter next time! Your fudge sounds good!!bigdane wrote:(((MA)))!!!! How did I miss this and how did this fudge turn out????????????????????maryanimal wrote:My last few days have been stellar! Ok, now I'm starting to drool! I love hazelnuts and sea salt! How will you do it? toast the hazelnuts first, get them wet and roll in sea salt, or just sprinkle the sea salt on and let dry?bigdane wrote:bacon fat is the ticket!! perhaps all bacon fat...maryanimal wrote: It turned out yummy, however it needed a bit more of a bacon flavor along with the bacon pieces. The recipe calls for butter, I mayuse half bacon fat and half butter next time! I'm going to try toasting some hazelnuts with sea salt and adding that to my next batch....
think I'll toast the hazelnuts first and rub them in a towel to get the husks off...then toss them with butter (I wonder if I tossed them in bacon fat instead of butter...hmmmmm) and sea salt and toast them again to release the oils and fragrance (yum) them dump them into the peanut butter jam wih a teaspoon of hazelnut extract.....maryanimal wrote: Ok, now I'm starting to drool! do you use thick cut bacon? And what temp do you bake the bacon at?
