Well, it seemed like such a ludicrous statement at first, and I know you aren't affected as such, but then I thought you might be commenting on a general hunger for fame.
I can understand wanting the perks, but fame itself?

Not exactly true. While Ryan says he may not PERSONALLY agree with it, his political position is that it is up to the people of the various states to decide. While this may be hard for "progressives" to understand, there is a thing called "federalism" which both Romney and Ryan are strong supporters of. That means allowing the people of the various states to decide how they want to live without shoving a central social ideology out of Washington DC, even when that state might decide to take a path different from your own personal views.
