So, you may have noticed that I constantly insult pets. That's because they have short lives. You love them so much, and then they die.
If you don't constantly remind yourself that they have faults as well as virtues, you won't survive the pain.
Too many pets, too many deaths.

That is one reason I hedge on pets. If you get one, cept maybe a bird or a turtle, the are going to die before you

That would be me....I have been blind in my left eye since 1968, so I have only one VERY dangerous eye.

I am sorry Handsome. My social skills appear to have a andoned me last night. I didnt mean to make you blush.
I went to school with a blind gal. She and i had great times together. She liked going for long walks. Her seeing eye dog was very good, but i was better. Her boyfriend at the time was quadroegic.
They had beautiful plans for their future... A vision together.
What i meant was you have beautiful eyes. I can believe the loss of sight in one does not affect your vision.

I have free range chickens. Too many testosterone poisoned roosters. They fight. I dont encourage it.
But when they fight, it is beautiful. They raise their neck feathers, the hackles, spread their wings. Despite the desperate violence, the roosters are beautiful.

Yes, I put my "grumpy old man" look up for a while. My hair goes grey when I am on Playa. Goes right back to brown about a week after I get back here to Va. I used to fight chickens, in my past life...back in the early 80's. Nothing my Dingos like more than a bird. I would love to have chickens again, but the "kids" won't allow it.

mgb327, your photos have convinced me of the sort of dog I'll search the shelters for next time I'm thinking of adopting a pet. Your little guys are too beautiful.

They are Austrailian Cattle dogs, or Blue Heelers. One of this breed was in Mad Max. Here in the country of Virginia, I know of many, they are a working farm type dog. Not good in an apartment, they need at least an acre each for whatever "job" they think they have. Naturally smart, very interactive, and I have not met a "mean" one yet. They also come in "red", a rust color. There is a smooth coat, which Tracy is, and rough coat, ala Stinko. They are naturally clean, don't drool, and are very interactive. Mine sleep in my bed with me. I have not given them a bath in years, except after a pond day. They just stay clean for some reason. Every heeler I have known has been this "clean". I have had 4 of them, they live about 12 years or more. Prone to deafness in later years. They are a predator like the Dingo in them, but are good with cats. Mine are catchers of anything else that moves, including cattle. They tend to be shy around other dogs. They are good mousers, and chipmunks are a favorite, but gives them dogfarts. Nothing will chase you out of the house like a Dingos' chipmunk-fart. They love to go for a ride, and they are very friendly to strangers, so they don't make a very good watchdog...at least mine aren't too good at that. I have met others that are great watchdogs, I guess it is how you train them. Mine trained me....well.

All the dogs that eat here stink. If its stinky, they eat it. If its really vile, they roll in it. If its truly disgusting they will carry it around.
I guess I could look upon it as a good thing - they are natural janitors. Sort of.

The birds are nesting early this year. Its been a mild winter, so far.
I am worried that the weather will revert to more normal temps, and their nests will fail.

Somthing I should add about my buddies Goonie here. He is 8yrs, has two extra dewclaws on his hind legs and is really smart. I believe this is hybrid vigour his father was Mallamute/dingo(heeler) and his moma was a Mastif/Rottweiler <---huge animal.

This is them napping next to me while I work at my standing desk in the office/bunny room Rabbits don't deal well with heat, loud noises, or too many strange humans, otherwise they are totally burner bunnies
