Disclaimers for dangerous activities
I know the back of the ticket (bott) covers alot, but I'm not sure enough. I think that Thunderdome relies on the BOTT for any injuries sustained in their facility, but I wonder if anybody out there uses a waiver? Willing to share? What other risk abatement/mitigation do you use when offering potentially dangerous activities on the playa?

This is a poor place to get (and probably give) legal advice.

Keep in mind that those signed waivers only help to make the signee think there is nothing thay can do if they get hurt. If it ever went to court, that signed waiver wouldn't mean shit.

the waiver, is essentially "smoke" to try to say you were "informed". but, the reality is, you can't sign away a constitutional right.

No, if you check my camp affiliations, I'm in the Bolshevik (i.e. Menshevik) Party and the Polka Party.ygmir wrote:is this why you party democrat?theCryptofishist wrote:I signed away my right to party.

The key is to ensure that your interactive art piece is dangerous enough that mere injuries cannot occur -- only death.

After a bit more thought, I'm nudging this over to the Q&A board, as it's a better fit for general preparation questions.

Re: Disclaimers for dangerous activities
One of this year's camp offerings will be cattle prod and stun gun tastings. We've done enough research (both academic, and, well, experiential) to feel confident in an incredibly low risk. Much lower than the Thunder Dome, I'll tell you that
Since informed consent is incredibly important to us, we'll have laminated handouts with a summery of our research and a quick run-down of the risks involved. That way if people want more information before they participate, it will be readily available. We know that no signed waiver will cover our asses in the event of a mishap, so this step is about transparency and education, not avoiding litigation.

So, what tastes better, a cattle guard or a stun gun?

Stun guns make your mouth taste like metal. Maybe it was the fillings in my teeth electroplating to my tongue but still.....

one of the points of interest in the old days of BRC was looking for dessicated remains
in tent folds
along the road in
after the event was over
now it is all so formal

Try not to do that until AFTER you've taught the boxing seminar and preferably left the camp. If you're not feeling well I'll move you from Face Punch Friday to Mix It Up Monday.tatonka wrote:im old enough that if I pass on out there , Ive had a good life
