thanks, Spinner. We really need to have a real neighborhood bar someplace out in the burbs ... but not TOO far out in the burbs :) next year. That would be so cool.

We could serve bacon, coffee and booze around the clock :)

I am watching one of these "who's your daddy" shows where some woman comes on convinced some guy is the father and he is convinced he isnt or vice versa ... typical Springer thing .... and the strange thing so far is that most of the people have all of their teefs.

amazing how little life means to some people. I mean, if I were to find out today that the kids I have been raising weren't mine, I couldn't love them any less. Because at this point ... they ARE mine .. or at least I am theirs.

Goood morning campers! I'll put the coffee on...

Guilty as charged. Now that the coffee's started, allow me to make my departure with this:

A regional VP for a grocery chain is visiting one of his stores, and asks the manager whether he's training any of his employees for management. "Well, the stock boy is smart as a whip, and can think on his feet."

"The stock boy?" asks the VP. "I gotta see this."

When they are introduced, the VP mentions a management opening at a store in Toronto. "Toronto?!" say the stock boy, "the only people from Toronto are hookers and hockey players!"

"MY WIFE'S FROM TORONTO!" storms the VP.

After an awkward moment, the stock boy replies, "Oh, what team does she play for?"

Actually, Fishie: that post yesterday prompted me to write something, but then I forgot about it until now:

Wouldn't it be interesting to draw this place out? I mean, take all of the stuff that we have all contributed to the way that the Bar looks and the decorations and the structure (not to mention the outside), and actually have some sort of representation of it?

It would be difficult, because it's always changing, or growing (we have a cellar? AND a backroom? AND a kitchen?), but I was just imagining how fun it would be to see the Bar that we have all helped to create.

and the, part of me doesn't want that to happen, because I like it as this sort of ethereal entity.

Early morning ramblings.....

and... and... and.... I miss Rian!

Maybe they will be too naive, too trusting. I worry about that sometimes. We live in a safe neighborhood with good schools, they have never really had to be afraid of anything or anyone. And you know, I don't know how to teach that. I grew up in an area where everyone pretty much looked out for each other. I wouldn't do well in a hard city. My first day in the Army I was honestly completely shocked when I took a shower and someone stole all my smokes because I left my locker open. I thought we were all on the same team. I have become more cynical but I try really hard not to pass that on. Sometimes I worry that I am not making my kids street wise enough.
I'm no expert, but I'm always ready wiht an opinion. Seems to me that a little bit of caution can be added into those basics and give you a well rounded person, much more easily than teaching trust to someone who's been steam rolled since day one and can't function for that. Give them some tools to evalueate others' sincerity.
