So.... I wanna try my best to not be shy and come. Honestly, you all will be the closest thing I have to knowing anyone at the burn.
Seeing as I've probably only read pages 1-5 and 25-30 of this thread I don't know what I should (or shouldn't) bring. Is there a list or is it not quite that formal?

Yes, YGMIR put the list on page 28 most recently. Bring Food or booze or non-alcoholic drink or chocolate moose.

Here is what you should bring: whatever you want. People do nice things, for the MnG. Me, I fly in and have no room to bring say, homemade pimento cheese or handmade gifts for everybody. If you start to feel bad about not being able to contribute "stuff," remember there's other stuff like cleaning up! The gift of demooping can be just as valuable as a bottle of almond champagne (note: I said *almost*).
Here is what you should wear: whatever you want. Me, I like to dress up because I like to dress up. And I know I won't be going anywhere for a few hours, so I can wear something I wouldn't normally wear (this year's theme, key party glamour). Other people just do shorts and t-shirts. Nobody cares, as long as you're happy!
From one excruciatingly shy person to another, be sure to come to the MnG. It's about the best time you might have at Burning Man.
Re: ePlaya Meet and Greet 2013 - What are you doing?
All right... I have packed a 5-liter box of white wine and three 2-liter bottles of Coke and other mixers for this event. You have 24 hours to request a change in this "order".
(I leave in 28 hours.)

I was going to do something cool, but realized I will have a busy day. So grilled mass amounts of protein it is. Maybe teriyaki chicken tenders. However much fits in my dry ice cooler.

Either way Bring your own grilled cheese, everyone likes grilled cheese.
The major difference between a thing that might go wrong and a thing that cannot possibly go wrong is that when a thing that cannot possibly go wrong goes wrong it usually turns out to be impossible to get at or repair.

Re: ePlaya Meet and Greet 2013 - What are you doing?
thank you mrpotato.
i won't have the on-playa ability to do grilled cheese. and as i said, soup minus the grilled cheese is lame (and who the hell eats tomato soup sans grilled cheese?)
i'll think of something else.

If you provide the bread and cheese, you can use my propane griddle. I'm grilling my meat ahead of time.Asquared wrote:thank you mrpotato.

Savannah: I don't know what it is, but no thread here escapes alive. You'll get 1 or 2 real answers at minimum, occasionally 10 or 12, and then we flog it until it's unrecognizable and you can't get your deposit back.

Wasn't there going to be some sort of epic try out of grilled cheese camping sandwich irons? We spent days talking about grilled cheese. Days. People were reminiscing about their childhood ovens, trading advise on where to buy them, wondering whether round or square was better. It was a "thing" really it was. There should be dozens of grilled cheese sandwiches.lucky420 wrote:I do know someone is planning on grilled cheese sammies
Is there something like gluten free bread--rye, oats, whatever? Could you bring a loaf and show up with it and ask to have a sandwich made with it?

Every time I've brought bread, muffins, crackers, etc. They've either molded in a day or two or gone rock hard.

Savannah has been able to keep bread out there, for more than a day or two. The trick seems to be to open the bag for 20 minutes a day, so the moisture escapes.
