Last day off before I leave. Everyone knows what that means!!

Getting all the road trip vehicle prep done today. Then I might even start packing. Holy shit less than 48 hours till I leave.

I haven't even looked at the hut full of stuff. I packed clothes last month and bought and packed my food and kitchen, lights, toiletries etc...there better be tarps, chairs and icechest in that hut. Who was it that told me I was playing BM roulette? So be it.

What if the raccoons are nesting in my pile of shit? Nah.

OMG Ratty, I am so in awe of how you could just whip up that amazing beany baby scarf for a stranger. You are a rock star! I would add lights to it, but that's my addiction. (You should have seen a friend's face when I showed her my bin of led string lights & el wires organized by color and type--and she's a fellow burner! Hoarder? Me? No way!)

As long as we are on the topic, do you need anything lit up with a light string? ;)
If you think you've overdone it, double it.

Thanks. I'm happy with all the color changing xmas light strings. Thanks so much for the offer. I usually just toss some over my outfit and go.

Hey! No body is a stranger on Eplaya. We just haven't met yet.

I just unloaded the hut. Everythings fine. Same old dusty pile I stuck in there.

Filled the vehicle and the 2 gal can with diesel.

Hung a new xmas tree air freshener

I packed everything up but clothing which is on the agenda for this evening.

I also need to go through my walking about bag because I vaguely recall seeing lens-less goggles at one point (came with two sets of interchangeable lens) .

The only thing not crossed off my list is the Reno shopping, the loading of my overnight bag, cell phone and laptop (and associated paraphernalia) and something to hold the coolers off the floor (mainly because I was in no mood to start cutting 4" x 4"'s by the time I finished).

I actually fit everything* in the vehicle with a 4" gap on top, just enough to use the interior rear view mirror which was a concern since my drivers side mirror is half what it used to be (due to the Gorilla tape securing it) and resembles some sort of odd confluence of fractals and the web of a spider on LSD.

* This is relative as, once again, I was unable to find room in my vehicle for my personal camp greeters/mascots, Patience and Fortitude (I'm understandably bummed by the situation):

Thanks, but they're lazy sods. When I asked them to jog along besides the vehicle it was met with a stoic "are you fuckin' kidding me?" stare. It was at that moment that it occurred to me I should've shipped them with the NY container (and be sparing with the air holes). Oh well, they'll have to wait for the confessional year (their loss)

I forgot that I grabbed the Audio Art Tour intending to listen on the ride but ended up listening to most of it on my walk. There's some exciting stuff out there that I'm itching to interact with.

Now you must do it. put a piece of plywood on your roof and put them ontop with suit jackets, ties and goggles.

Bought a bunch of shit on Amazon to ship to where I'm staying in Reno (dear god thank you for that). Wasted most of the day going shopping for shoes and something to wear. No luck. About to start packing the suitcase, for real...see where I'm at. Need one damn quarter so I can do some laundry!

Need to figure out how to work itunes so I can make the playlist for Punk Pirate Sunday. Sunday night, taking over the pirate ship, playing all punk all the time, until we get tired of driving around. Last year it was so much fun I woke up Monday morning sans mug, light and pee funnel.

I need to get my volunteer shifts (GPE/Ranger) figured out, too! And NOT PANIC.

Talked myself out of a bottle of Fra Angelico. Really, hazelnut liqueur? Someone must have been drunk.

It's good! Birthday cake shots, Nutella drinks...

I am officially freaking out because I went to pay for my ticket, and it says the links expired/ticket number's used. So, I'm praying I already paid for it and don't remember. Except I don't have any kind of confirmation email, saying I did that.

Worse, my stuff isn't half packed and the suitcase is almost full and I don't know what to do. I'm already packing about as sparse as I could, for Burning Man. Maybe I'm screwed on a ticket and not going after all!

All the groceries are bought and stacked... Ready to be loaded (minus last minute purchase of some produce). Today I am decorating my bike and writing up instructions for my in-laws on how to feed/water my kids while I'm away!

Hope to do a "dry" run today. Load the food into the cooler to see how much room I'll need for ice (frozen one gallon milk containers) or if I'll need a second cooler.

Ha! Something I noticed, as a convertible driver myself: It's the people who work in office buildings that drive home on hot sunny days with the top down on their BMW Z3 or whatever. I work outside (crane truck) and they look at me funny 'cuz I go home top-up, windows-up, A/C on.
I've been in the goddamm sun all day! I drive top-down on weekends, evenings or night when it's warm enough.

So - today, more final packing and list-checking and trying to not forget critical things that seem impossible to overlook - but it's in fact quite easy!

If it makes you feel good and is fun, by all means go ahead with a costume, but why feel like you have to wear something special? Don't ever let anybody make you feel like you're not participating just because you didn't spend $100 on glow-in-the-dark fur.

I wear something fairly close to my typical field work clothes. Either that, or full-length pajamas. A few of my campmates ribbed me a little bit and tried to get me into a sarong, but if I didn't feel like it - fuck 'em. My clothes are comfy so that's what I want to wear. Last thing I want is some froo-froo frills getting in my way as I climb some huge sculpture in deep playa.

When he puts out his lamp, he sends the flower, or the star, to sleep.
