Fucking thanks everyone! I love you Man!! The only way they'll catch him is if he does it again and someone shoots his fucking ass.

And one more fuck...I was supposed to leave today but I thought I had everything good to go...NOT! So right now I've extremely tired and I don't like to drive at night much. So early in the morning I'll be leaving!
Sometimes I'm confused by what I think is really obvious. But what I think is really obvious obviously isn't obvious.

I had the same fucking problem when I got my new computer, turns out a firmware upgrade was the fix. (get the exact model number, serial number, well all numbers - from the bottom of you wireless router and then log onto the manufacturer's web site, find "support/downloads". Pick your exact model and then follow the instructions to download/update the router's firmware. NOTE: Make sure you do this with a wire plugged into the modem and whatever computer you are using. There are many reports of active suppression of crime coverage in UK now.
I wouldn't have thought such widespread fraud and control was possible, but with the current climate and the totally false reporting here in usa to advance the gun ban agenda, even the conspiracists don't cover it.

It's always been common for nicer small towns to falsify crime specs, now worse.
Baltimore was caught by the govt under reporting by 80%.
I think it's far worse where I live.

When I was doing alarms and bank security, the suburb outside of town used to report zero burglaries or a few, all solved.
At the time, I personally had worked on more homes that had been heavily robbed and were unsolved.

You may live in a relatively low crime area, but to know how safe, and how many robberies these same people have commited previously would take some digging.
It might be worth it to you.
The biggest myth are "safe" areas.
Some crooks go to the safe areas because no one has their guard up.

Journalism funding is now nil compared to the past, commercial control endemic, simply lack of staff in many cases.
It is actually not hard for an individual to expose things normal media can't or won't report.
I've been doing it.

so true, no one expects it to happen so I was not prepared for this to ever happen to him, a lesson learnt me thinks

At first he did not want to call the police, but I did, he also didn't want to tell anyone. He felt foolish for not fighting back or chasing them, took a lot of convincing that he did the right thing.
For me the only crime I ever saw was on the news, now its a lot more real.

Its hard to keep him safe whilst allowing him freedom, I have let him out on his motorbike to see his girlfriend but sat here panicking!

Any suggestions would be appreciated as I feel a bit out of my depth with this

He should not feel foolish.
When you survive, you usually did the right thing.

The basics are the same, be wary, don't let people get too close to you, pay attention to your instincts.
Even then, you can be surprized.
Most criminals will telegraph though.
People that won't look at you, etc.
Abnormal behavior, people falling silent as they approach, I had that happen.

I'm told most self defense is illegal in UK.
Here we say better to be tried by twelve, than carried by six.
I carry two guns and a swiss pepper spray, Life Guardian in europe, I think.
I'm told even that is banned there.

Hand to hand takes a lot of training.
Can work.
My trainer has disarmed five armed robbers by hand.
Takes a careless robber and high levels of skill.

The best quick training I know of is the military training book Kill or Be Killed.
Excellent.
Can't hurt.
Very common sense hand to hand.

I am a believer in panic switches.
Easy to wire one to a car alarm and have a remote.
Same for home.
Should have a button inside the doors and in the bedroom.
Bikes are tougher and more vunerable, but an alarm can be done.
Gps/etc trackers are possible.
Panic switches can now call a central station or police.
May be worth exploring there, if you're concerned.

I just spent more on german chain and shrouded locks for a trailer, than I paid for the trailer.
Works for bikes, to a point.

Crime victims are not paranoid, they are dealing with the removal of the denial of reality most people live in.
Awareness of the real world is hard, but being aware of our actual vulnerability makes it possible to do something about it.

Don't let him feel bad about what he did.
Even if he did the "wrong" thing, it is not his fault.
Reporting it is the right thing to do, of course, and follow through.

As for his safety, unless there is a recent change in crime, his risk is the same now as it always was before.

Even armed and trained, under certain circumstances, i would co-operate.
I would have tried to chase them, but from quite a distance.
Your attacker is always armed, until you confirm they are not.
He was not foolish at all.

I believe he did right, they were adults bigger than him and the police believe would have been carrying some form of weapon

He will be ok, nothing to his face, just his torso and legs so easily hidden
He starts college tomorrow, so that will help focus his mind on something positive

I have to say this is the first time I have really posted on eplaya, being new to BM and the fact I had somewhere to turn to and the positive reaction I have received from you, confirms I was right to
Thank you

Funny thing about (fucking) burners: they seem to be constantly in a squabble with each other... at least until another burner needs them. Then, hiding bodies and avenging honor is just all in a days work.

And when the crisis is past, we promptly go back to squabbling! :)

Oh wired, I am so sorry you and your family had to go thru that. As a parent I know how we all want our child to fly free and live their lives but also want to lock them up and protect them from the world. Gyre is right tho. Safety is in your mind, anything can happen to anyone at any time and the best prep is just to be aware of that. Your son did the right thing cause it resulted in him getting home alive. Encourage him to be vigilant but don't let fear rob either if you from enjoying life. ((Hugs))

Thanks jax

I have passed on everyones thoughts to him and I think it does make a difference to him, he is starting to accept he did the right thing.
I know its made him more cautious and he feels vulnerable being out and about, he has phoned and keeps texting me all morning.

I would love to wrap him up keep him safe but I have to let him have his freedom
Just so glad he will be ok

I was talking about Stuart Sutcliffe, of course.
He died of a head injury, suffered in an attack on the street.

Fuck, talked to a longtime client & friend today and 11 days ago she was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer. Hadn't ever had a mammogram because she's self employed (no health insurance) and has always been healthy. Found a lump in her armpit.

Then I opened Facebook and the first post on my feed was a friend saying his toddler was just diagnosed with cancer. Three years old.

And fuck, I forgot to pay my health insurance before I left for burning man and it's been cancelled. No mammo for me until January when the exchange starts.
